Tracy and Miky Wright
This weeks Take Us Along Winners are Tracy and Miky Wright of Caneyville, Ky., who took Kentucky Auto & RV along on a trip to Gulangyu Island, Xiamen, Fujian, China. They are shown with Zhong Rui Jia, who is holding the popular magazine.
The Egret River separates Gulangyu from Xiamen. Its name comes from the Ming Dynasty when it was renamed Gulang, meaning “drum waves,” because the holes in the southwestern reefs hit by the waves made sounds like drums beating. Gulangyu is famous for its architecture and for the piano museum, the largest in China.
Today the island is listed as one of the nations major scenic spots with many areas visited by millions of people annually from all parts of China and foreign countries. Citizens on this island seem to live in a paradise with a relaxing, healthy and placid lifestyle.
